Magic Hungary – Strengthening Partnerships at Our 2014 Partner Meeting and Technical Training

Every year Magic Hungary organizes an event for our 30-35 active ISV partner companies. This year’s Annual Partner Meeting was held on October 28 at the Gerébi Mansion Hotel in the picturesque countryside, one hour from Budapest. It was followed by a 2-day technical training session on October 29-30.

“The main goal of the event was to share Magic news and other valuable information with our Magic Software Partners (MSPs) in an informal atmosphere where we could get to know each other better, develop caring relationships, and of course to have fun,” stated Marton Szluha, Branch Manager at Magic Hungary.

Topics on the agenda this year included Magic’s new Mobile Accelerator Framework, licensing models, Magic xpi 4.x IMDG architecture, Magic University, and tips and tricks from some of our partners. Partners also enjoyed a presentation from a professional sales training group specialized in the B2B IT sector. The group educated and inspired the audience with a lot new information about how to sell IT products with business-oriented messages. Later, after a great dinner, our partners joined in a fun team-building game where they were able to put their new sales knowledge to use.

After the partner meeting came the real technical part. This year we ran a special technical training intended to provide our partners with as much information as possible to accelerate their migration into the world of Magic xpa 2.x and to enterprise mobility. 20 participants attended the 2-day event, more than we expected!

Yuval Asheri, VP Technical Product Management, came from HQ to lead the in-depth technical sessions. He covered the abilities Magic xpa offers in connectivity to the .NET world, including use of .NET Windows Forms controls to give apps a modern, friendly user experience that increases usability. In addition, Yuval led discussions in the different aspects of the migration process from previous versions of Magic to Magic xpa. Finally, he led a full day session understanding the mobile world, including a peek at Magic’s new Mobile Accelerator Framework, the Magic offering for running offline applications on mobile devices, and for accessing local data.

The training ended with a short overview of Magic's Roadmap for the Magic xpa Application Platform and a look at the intriguing new form designer within Microsoft’s Visual Studio, together with the mobile layout preview.

"I hope that we provided enough information and answers so that our partners feel comfortable and secure stepping into the mobile world with Magic," added Yuval.

As usual, we asked participants for their feedback after the event. I am happy to report that we received many positive remarks about the event and especially about the technical training.

Here are a few of the comments:

“It was very good training. We were able to get all the answers to our questions. We are happy to participate each year in similar training sessions.” – Gábor Karuczka, CEO Mindennap Ltd.

“We saw the new Magic xpa version 3.0. It looks amazing! I looking forward to using it next year when it’s kicked off!” – Balázs Batik, developer Korláth Ltd.

It was a great pleasure to host such a special partner meeting. We look forward to organizing an even better Partner event (or two) in 2015!
