Day 2 started with a 2-hour keynote address by Salesforce.com co-founder and CEO, Marc Benioff. Excited about Salesforce’s success (just reached a $1 billion quarter) and philanthropy (“The best drug I ever took was philanthropy) thanked everyone in attendance. Benioff was even more excited about the future, with the “Internet of Things” where virtually all devices, people and services will be connected, and where he’s engineering Salesforce technology and products to play a vital role.
A Musical Interlude
Salesforce got the audience rocking by treating us to a surprise two-song performance Huey Lewis and the News, including hit song “The Power of Love.”
The day was really about the launch of Salesforce 1, Salesforce’s new platform to build mobile apps that lets users connect customers, employees and partners using open10 times more APIs than the old platform. Clearly Salesforce is taking an application-first approach to business.
Other Speakers of Note
I’m looking forward to hearing Yahoo CEO, Marissa Mayer speak and to the big benefit concert featuring Green Day and Blondie.
