Here's a straight-shooting example of focus group market research in action. Christopher Keene describes how he conducted an on-the-spot survey of ISVs during a Cloud Computing and SaaS webinar.
First, the ISVs were asked to rate themselves on a 'SaaS maturity scale' of 1-5 for today; and then to rate themselves on where they want to be 12 months from now.
The conclusion of the survey confirms that: "ISVs are looking for an incremental methodology for migrating their applications to SaaS, rather than a big bang approach in which the ISV does a complete rewrite of their software."
